Im New To Medicare
Medicare is a federal health insurance program in the United States. It is generally available to people who are 65 or older, as well as some younger people with disabilities and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
There are four parts to Medicare:
- Part A (hospital insurance)
- Part B (medical insurance)
- Part C (Medicare Advantage)
- Part D (drug coverage)
Most people who are eligible for Medicare are eligible for Part A and Part B, which cover a wide range of medical services and supplies. To be eligible for Part A, an individual must be 65 or older and be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. People under 65 may also be eligible for Part A if they have a certain disability or have ESRD.
Part B, on the other hand, is optional. It covers things like doctor visits, preventive services, and medical equipment. Individuals are usually required to pay a monthly premium for Part B coverage.
Part C (Medicare Advantage) is an alternative way to receive your Medicare benefits. Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private companies that contract with Medicare. They typically provide additional benefits, such as vision and hearing coverage, and have networks of providers, similar to HMOs or PPOs.
Part D is a prescription drug coverage which is optional and provided by private insurance companies.
